Description

Roman forceps from the doctor’s grave at Luzzi (Cosenza), Italy, 1st century AD. Forceps were widely used in ancient medicine for a variety of purposes: from pulling bone splinters and foreign objects out of wounds to extracting teeth; iron tongs were usually used for this because of their greater strength. Length 19,5 cm.
