44,00 € – 51,00 €
Description
Late form of a thistle brooch from grave 600 of the Wederath burial ground (BELGINUM) in the Hunsrück, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, which with its 2500 graves is the largest in the province of GALLIA BELGICA. A characteristic sign here is that the sleeve that holds the spring spiral has been omitted and replaced by a hinge with a pin. Also unusual in this piece is the absence of the ornamented pressed sheet metal looking like a thistle. Original tinned brass, length 5.3 cm. Dating around 40 to 70 AD.
