Profiled brass brooch from Aquileia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northern Italy, first half of the 1st century AD. Length 7 cm. This type had its origin at the beginning of the 1st century AD in the Noric-Pannonian area (corresponds roughly to Austria and western Hungary today), from where it also spread across the Rhineland. The type is rarely found north of the Main River.
