Description

Fitting in the shape of a bird of prey and fish. This motif has been known since antiquity and can also be found in the Germanic arts and crafts of the 5. and 6th century AD. The interpretation is difficult, as it can go back to pagan Odin myths, but also to Christian symbolism. From Machelepot, Dep. Somme, France, 6th century AD. Original tin-plated copper alloy. Replica brooch in silver, height 3.5 cm. With strong pin made of spring hard bronze.
