Description
Roman brooch from Burghöfe, Ldkr. Donau-Ries, Bayern, Germany. Epigraphically deformed, this type of fibula, which occurs quite rarely, forms the genitive of the god Mars, “MARTIS”. So far only 10 of such brooches are known, 7 of them from Germany. End 2nd to mid 3rd century AD. Heigth 3,1 cm. Original tinned brass, soldier’s brooch.
Strong pin made of spring hard bronze.
