Description
Remnant of a pressed brass sheet from Magdalenenberg in Austria, 1st half of the 1st century AD , diameter 4,8 cm. The back base plate was no longer available. Motifs of this type were often found on military belts, but then almost always in the form of a rectangle plate and not a disc. However, it could also possibly have been the front of a large disc fibula, as has been handed down from stone monuments from this period, but has so far only been found very rarely. That’s why I reworked this motif into such a large disc brooch. Diameter 4,8 cm. Originally made of tinned sheet brass.
