Description
Omega brooch from Xanten. This type was particularly widespread along the Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, in southern Germany and Switzerland and appears from around the 40s of the first century to the middle of the 2nd century AD and was used in pairs. From the later 2nd century AD it then appeared, in an enlarged form, as a men’s brooch, which survived in various forms until the late 4th century AD (see no. 0586). Diameter 3,5 cm, Original made in brass.
