Description

Roman military belt buckle from the Roman fort at Osterburken, end of 2nd – beginning 3rd century AD. A typical example of this period with a simple assembly procedure: The buckle is passed through the belt leather with its two rear tangs and then the long spike of the bottom side is passed through a hole in the rear tang with a pair of pliers, the spike is then pressed firmly onto the belt leather. Thus, the leather is firmly fixed between openwork plate and the long spike. Original copper alloy tinned. Length 7.5 cm, width of the fitting plate 2.2 cm.

The end hangers 0131, 0137, 0336 or 0406 are suitable.
